Membership FAQ

Can I change the name used when I comment?

Yes. Member comments on the Monevator website are attributed to your ‘nickname’. To change your nickname, first log in, and then find the Your Membership details, either at the top of the sidebar on the right, or else at the bottom of the page if your screen is narrow or you’re on mobile.

Click the change link after your name.

You’re taken to a new screen where you can enter your desired name in the nickname box. Make sure the display name publicly as option is set to the same nickname and then click the Update Profile button.

Ignore the two-factor/QR code bit. That’s not used here.

Finally, click Monevator in the top-left to return to browsing our website.

Please don’t abuse this feature.

How can I add a profile picture to my account?

Via the avatar service we use called Gravatar.

Why can’t I log in to the Monevator site?

Check your browser’s security settings. Our membership software won’t work if you’ve disabled 3rd-party cookies. Either change your settings or use another browser.

Can I switch from a monthly plan to an annual plan?

Yes. Click Change plan from the Subscriptions menu item in your account. You’ll be switched to the new plan immediately and charged a prorated amount. https://monevator.memberful.com/account/subscriptions

Can I upgrade from Maven to Mogul membership?

Yes! Apply for Mogul membership and any pro-rata charge paid for your current Maven membership will be carried over.

Why am I not getting my member emails?

If you ever unsubscribed (/cancelled) a subscription to our regular (/free) articles over email, the system assumes you don’t want emails and won’t send you any. Please resubscribe with the same email address as your member account to get both member and free emails in future. Alternatively, read Mavens and Moguls articles as a logged-in member on the Monevator website.

Can I update my email address or other personal information?

Yes. Log in to your account to make these changes. https://monevator.memberful.com/account

Can I update my credit card?

Yes. Log in to your account, add the new card and click Update my credit card. https://monevator.memberful.com/account/credit_card/edit

How do I reset my password?

Passwords are not required for your membership account. Instead, visit our sign in form, enter your email address and click Send sign in link. We’ll send you an email with a link that you can click to sign in. The link can only be used once and expires after 24 hours.

If you prefer to create a password, you can do so after you sign up for a membership. If you ever need to reset your password, click this link https://monevator.memberful.com/auth/password/new, enter your email address, and then click send me reset instructions.

To ensure the reset process is secure:

  • Password reset links automatically expire after 48 hours.
  • Password reset links can only be used once. If you click the link, and reset your password, the link becomes invalid.
  • If the link becomes invalid, delete the old reset email and start with a fresh password reset.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Log in to your account and toggle auto-renew off from the Subscriptions menu item. https://monevator.memberful.com/account/subscriptions

Can I read member posts via RSS?

Yes. Log into Monevator as a member. Your private member RSS feed is linked to in your profile information in the sidebar. Copy this RSS feed address and paste it into your usual RSS reader.

Do you offer a membership referral program?

Yes we do. And by referring new annual plan membersMavens or Moguls – you can get yourself a membership discount!

Note that both you and your referred members must be on our annual plans. (Our monthly plans are too darn cheap for the economics to work.)

To get your unique referral code, sign-in as a member on the Monevator website and then click the ‘account’ link in the sidebar. Or go straight to:

Copy and share your unique link with someone who might like Monevator. If they sign up as an annual member after clicking on it, you’ll get the recurring discount indicated taken off your next membership payment.

Again please make sure you’re on an annual plan yourself to qualify – and the new member must join an annual plan too.
